Dentist

I went to the dentist expecting the Haldol to help with my exam.  It did make it easier to keep the x-rays in my mouth.  My hygienist said it was still hard to floss me, and that my ability to keep my teeth clean was going downhill.  She recommended using both hands on my electric toothbrush and disclosing dye to show me where I am missing.
The dentist, Dr. Rowland, prescribed a fluoridated toothpaste.  She found a cavity that she can’t fill because of my movement.  Dr. Rowland referred me to a dentist who can use nitrous oxide.  She said that will be more expensive.  Dr. Rowland also said, once she refers me to that specialist, he may not be willing to refer me back.  I checked and found out he is not on my plan.
     The present moment is cozy.

Hairdresser

I forgot to acknowledge my hairdresser, Laurie. She has done an amazing job, cutting my hair with my movements.  Laurie appreciates how much easier it is with the Haldol.  She is an artist with hair as well as well-read, musical and a good film critic.
Also, my friend, who gets me to my haircuts, reminds me how much money to take out of the ATM, on the way.  Barbara stands with me to make sure I don’t forget my cash card.
My fellow students in my line dance class say I am an inspiration dancing with HD.

Smoke Damage

I was warming up some egg rolls in the microwave for the first time.  The instructions said two minutes for one.  I figured I could put five in for 10 minutes.  I stopped paying attention.  They burned.  My Huntington’s diminishes my sense of smell.
The house smelled smoky for awhile.  I offered to pay for cleaning the carpets.  Carol found some carpet deodorizer that helped.
This raises the question for me whether it is time to go into an Assisted Living Facility (ALF).  Am I dangerous home alone?
Carol says I am unique in being willing to go into an ALF.  She says I am independent in terms of being able to cook for myself safely for the most part.  Carol points out I enjoy being the Dyke About Town, out covering events.
I am protective of her, wanting to reduce how much responsibility she has for me.  Also, I had a positive experience working at an ALF.
I forgot to mention Carol says the Haldol is improving my memory
